Who am I?
Anisa Jasmo is an interdisciplinary artist working at the intersection of music, performance, and sensory experience within contemporary pop culture. Her work centers around wonder as an active state of perception — a moment of openness in which the ordinary becomes unfamiliar again and fixed meanings temporarily dissolve.
Her artistic practice is rooted in atmosphere, intuition, and narrative. Moving between ambient, experimental folk, tribal structures, and immersive soundscapes, she creates performances that unfold as inner journeys. Silence and intensity coexist; nature functions as both metaphor and emotional landscape. Her work does not aim to explain, but to shift perception.
During her studies in Popular Culture, Anisa developed a clear conceptual foundation around the theme of wonder. Her graduation research explored philosophical and societal perspectives on perception, openness, and the act of “seeing anew,” resulting in the performance project With New Eyes. The project examines how live music can function as a space for deceleration and sensory reorientation within a fast-paced, performance-driven culture.
Previously, she completed a Liberal Arts minor focused on art and philosophy, further deepening her engagement with existential themes, perception, and meaning-making. A stage in art and philosophy education strengthened her interest in wonder as both a creative and transformative force — not only in art, but in lived experience.
Anisa has also worked in collaborative music projects, experimenting with ritualistic structures, trance-like repetition, and collective atmosphere. These explorations continue to inform her solo practice, where performance, embodiment, and sound converge.
As an emerging independent artist, Anisa consciously positions her work between experimental folk and performative art. Her ambition is to create immersive experiences that resonate both emotionally and conceptually — works that linger not because they explain, but because they open.
In her practice, intuition and reflection coexist. What begins as a sensory impulse evolves through research, dialogue, and experimentation. In this way, Anisa Jasmo continues to shape a distinct artistic voice grounded in atmosphere, presence, and the quiet radical act of seeing with new eyes.
